Colorado Springs, CO — September 2021 — Child of this Culture Foundation (COTC) promotes Hip Hop culture, community empowerment, and sport. It has been
working with leaders in the breaking community - as well as professionals from other National Governing Bodies (NGBs) - and collectively gathering input from top
athletes, coaches, judges, event organizers, and more. Conversation isn’t just around garnering support, but also to solicit feedback on what the breaking community
is looking for in athlete safety, and how best to preserve and protect the rich history of the sport. Because of this, COTC has made the decision to partner with
InjureFree - a cloud-based technology service leading athlete safety initiatives and risk management for organized sports. The partnership serves the needs of
establishing athlete safety, risk management tools, and research, for the first time for the emerging sport of Breaking that debuts in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
COTC’s goal is to support the development of the sport of breaking in the US by celebrating athletes, culture, and events. COTC also brings in their partner, Project
Breakalign, an international research project for prevention of injuries for Breakers, aiming to raise the quality of life of every dance body, by applying injury prevention
principles, through accessible fundamental dance science education and conditioning methods. Project Breakalign contribution allows qualitative and quantitative
expertise in developing research towards improving conditioning and training methods for breakers, performed by genre-specific medical and health professionals.
With InjureFree as an existing trusted partner for large NGBs, state-level associations, and school districts, the partnership syncs over-arching mutual goals of
preserving the development of organized sports by protecting the health & safety of the participating athletes.
“COTC’s mission expanded by developing a sports pathway for breaking athletes in the US” stated Cindy Foley, COTC CEO. “We’re very excited about our partnership
with InjureFree because it allows us to work together in championing the way in the US to create sound and appropriate safety assurances for our breaking athletes
for the first time—all while acknowledging the sport’s cultural roots.”
Within the services of the InjureFree platform, organizations’ parents, athletic trainers, and organizational administrators appreciate the simplistic interface in
reporting and injury incidents, and on a different view, medical advisory committees, and insurance providers are able to access robust dashboards that aggregate in
real-time.
As the sport of Breaking continues to grow, InjureFree will continue to support an increasing number of participants, clubs, and organizations within the sport around
risk management & safety initiatives - an effort that will become more paramount as more athletes discover and explore this realm of sport. Breaking is a worldwide
youth-driven sport, and has gone from a 1980s fad to a legitimate, recognized sport. The teaming up efforts provide a complete risk management solution for US
breaking clubs and organizations.
